I'm giving up my days of being a pirate! I know, no one ever saw this coming, especially myself. I mean, it's so convenient to just download a movie/music album/computer program, right? Why dish out money for something I can get for free, right? Wrong: Exodus 20:15 "You shall not steal."
I'm not sure if there was a defining incident that made me realize my sin, but during my trip to China, I finally realized that by illegally downloading stuffs, I was sinning against God. I've always been a strong advocate against the money, I mean music/movie, industry, but regardless of how filthy rich the industries have become, I still have no right to steal from them.
So, I've decided to buy all of the illegal materials I've downloaded, at least those that I enjoy using, and I'll delete everything else. So far, I need to (roughly) buy:
- $600 worth of music
- $200 worth of programs
And I haven't even checked the movies yet, as most are on my external HDD at school. At any rate, I realize that if I want to follow God with my ENTIRE soul, body, strength, mind, and heart, I need to purge all of my sinful ways and abandon myself for Him. So, I give this up for You, oh LORD. Please help me to not return to my sinful ways of eye-patching and peg-legging, but help me to be found faithful in everything I do. I love You!
