I'm working on this problem for my last PS due for MUS 320 and I came across this strange question that, more than anything, made me hungry haha:

Dedicated to So-Youn Kim
Tonight I played the piano at So-Youn Kim's memorial service in SF. It was truly a beast.
So-Youn was my big sib during freshman year and although I didn't know her super well, I did appreciate her random, sporadic nature. She's probably the reason why my P-ness (Meyers-Briggs;say it out loud) has grown so much over the years. During the memorial service, many people shared so many different stories about how So-Youn impacted their lives and pushed them to find out who they really were. In the spirit of story-telling, I've decided to share my most vivid memory about So-Youn: During my freshman year, So-Youn set me up on a date which I couldn't refuse. I remember feeling flabbergasted as So-Youn was explaining to me that I had to take a girl named Theresa on a date that she had planned, and there was no getting out of it. In the end, I had a great time with Theresa, but the whole time I was shaking my head and laughing at how silly the whole situation seemed. That's So-Youn for you and I'm pretty sad that she's passed away at such a young age, but I'm happy for her that she's with our heavenly Father now.
So-Youn's memorial service really got me thinking about my own sisters and what would happen if they passed away suddenly. At one point during the ceremony, I really started tearing up because I couldn't even imagine what it must feel like to live without my sisters. Thank you So-Youn for making me realize how precious not only my life is, but also the lives of those around me who I truly love. I hope to honor you by loving and cherishing my sisters as if each day is the last I have with them.
P.S. Sorry this is a pretty random post, but I wanted to preserve how I am feeling by writing down my thoughts immediately after getting back.
P.P.S. I really have to work on my writing as it's currently pretty terrible, to say the least ;)

For God so loved the World
Esther's (my beloved older younger sister) birthday is on July 12. The problem with having a birthday on July 12, however, is that it's during the summer time which means missions. In the case of this past year, Esther was indeed on a missions trip to Kyrgyzstan which meant I couldn't bestow upon her a birthday gift. So, I decided to embark on a quest to make something for her as a belated birthday gift. This is an account of the Adventure of Custom Water Container:

My New Ride
is a Fuji Team road bike! I can't find much information on the bike's year, etc. but it is a super sweet ride :) All steel frame, carbon front fork, full Shimano 600 (~Ultegras), SPD pedals, what more could I ask for? The only short comings of the bike are the double crank (gonna get owned by hills) and the shifters (eek! I know...); the left shifter doesn't down shift too well, probably due to the grease/oil becoming sticky inside. I have to shift quite a few times in order to get it to shift, but it's usable :)

Deliver Me[1]
Two days ago, I came down with a terribly severe yet brief case of either gastroenteritis or food poisoning. Whatever it was, it put me in a situation where I had to cry out to God to provide some serious healing. And in that crying out, I decided to record a song!
Here's my version of Deliver Me; as you can tell, it's super rough (I only spent ~1 hr recording this), so I was hoping that you guys could help me out with this and we could release this as a Makeshift song! Basically, the acoustic guitar track is absolutely terrible (recorded using the speakers of my MBP + the guitar is out of tune on the A string + off-timing for some parts), so maybe Ajuh, could you work on a killer guitar track? Also, I sang far away from the speakers, so the voice is super faint (Cliff, work your Mr. McDreamy voice?) I also might redo the electric solo track since it's a bit repetitive and timing (again). Anyways, if you guys are busy and whatnot, no worries, but I just thought we'd get this collaboration train chugging again.
If you guys want to actually work on this, I'll set up a subversion repository that we can use. It's basically something that keeps track of changes made by different people, so we can track the progress of the song as we individually make our changes, and revert back to older versions if we need to. SVN repos are mostly used by coders (duh) but I think it'll be super useful for us as a band if we ever decide to do more collaboration via the Internet.

All For Love [beta]
Hello everyone!
I'm proud to announce my new project *trumpet flare*:
www.stanford.edu/~isyiwang
During the summer, God convicted me about providing free worship songs for people to use as devotional music, as a resource to learn new songs, or just as something to praise God with. And so, I've tried to remain faithful by starting this project which will hopefully flourish into a lot of fruit for His kingdom. I only have a couple of songs up there, but I'm hoping to finish more and post them soon, so be on the lookout! Also, any (constructive) criticism is hugely appreciated! I want this to be a tool for all of His children to use, so I'm hoping to work extra hard on this project.
I wanted to show you guys the website as I'm developing for it because I hope to gain a lot of feedback about it :) Please don't advertise the site yet; I'm hoping to record ~200 songs before having a huge launch and telling everyone about it heh. Be blessed my chingus!

(no title)
I've been beyond busy. Bad busy. Badsy. Anyways, I wanted to take a break from the madness and post some good stuff that God's been showing me.
First up, a poem I wrote in response to Psalm 116:
I am simple, yes indeed.
I'm so simple, I'm always in need.
My words are simple, my heart is too
I give my simple self to You.
When I stumble and when I fall,
Like a child who can barely crawl,
The answer's simple, for Your word is true:
All I need is simply You!
Second, this video speaks the gospel of Jesus in 5:29; amazing!
Third, it's actually a secret; I can't talk about it yet because it's still a WIP. Ok fine, I'll peep a bit. It's a project that God called me to do during the summer and I'm finally trying to be obedient. It's called All For Love, and it's something that I'm super excited to show, but I have to finish it first :) Get excited!
